Reading: SSR and review of similes and metaphors. Review and correct quiz on metaphor and simile identification.. Assign last metaphor worksheet, due tomorrow.

Writing: DOL: reminder of procedures. Orally correct in class.

Science: Beginning of Planetary Science FOSS kit. Investigation 1: Draw a birds-eye view diagram of the middle school. Indicate where you can be found each period of the day, including lunch. Continue tomorrow if not finished today.

History: Greek ancient history. Establish what students already know, and begin discussion on Sparta/Athens.

Cartooning: Introduction to class. Discuss classroom rules. Complete questionnaire about cartoon interests. If extra time, pass out and discuss funnies sections from the newspaper.
