Block: SSR. New book orders have been given out. If you wish to order on-line, with a credit card, please let me know as I need to code all of the order catalogs in. I also have printed directions with passwords if you haven't ordered on line before. HOHH questions for this week are past due. Students need to have read the entire book by next Monday when they walk in the room (p. 105-126.)
Students made writing folders to keep all of the pieces of their suspense story and other writing assignments. They copied the rules down for their suspense stories: No weapons, no killing/death, no blood and gore. They will be graded on their use of suspense and effort in improving the first draft of their story, as well as conventions on their final. These stories will be broken into quite a few pieces, with individual due dates. We will work on them 2-3 days per week, and hope to have them finished around the end of the month.
Keyboarding: Continue to set wpm goals and work on lessons 1-7. Be sure to chart your results so you can see your improvement in accuracy and speed.
Science: Today we will prepare for tomorrow's lab on discovering the identity of an unknown substance. Today they will receive a chart of some substances and their solubility weights. They need to work in a group to come up with a plan to identify an unknown substance. Everyone in the group needs to agree with the plan. In their science notebooks they need to describe the steps and materials they will need to complete their plan. They will also need to describe the characteristic properties of the material they will be testing. They will attach the printed chart to their science notebooks for completion tomorrow. If students are absent they will be expected to copy the information into their science notebooks from a friend.
Cartooning: Continue working on comic strip #3. It will be due about the end of next week.
Remember to put narration bubbles around narration and put this on a different sheet of paper!
